21 year old Ballymoney son of a famous Dunlop Father and Uncle cruised to an historic victory here on the Isle of Man. Michael Dunlop added yet another Dunlop name onto a TT trophy by winning the Relentless Supersports Junior TT Race 2 by over 31 seconds The Day started with the start drenched in sunshine while Ballaugh was drenched in rain and even hailstones reported. The rain between Ballaugh and Appledene delayed the start to the Relentless supersport Junior TT for three and a quarter hours and did get away at 2pm with the riders being warned of tricky road conditions in the early stages of the first lap. Michael Dunlop 600cc Yamaha / Street Sweep/Marlow Construction took a commanding lead from the first lap of 10 seconds over Conor Cummins 600cc Kawasaki / McAdoo Kawasaki Racing and Guy Martin 600cc Honda / Hydrex Honda Racing in 3ed. Lap 2 seen him extend the lead to 15 seconds as conditions improved around the course as did the lap times with Conor Cummins holding on to second position whilst Bruce Anstey 600cc Suzuki / Relentless Suzuki by TAS Racing moved up to 3ed as Guy Martin faded and later dropped out of the race. The pit stops at the end of lap 2 gave young Michael a further advantage having taken the shortest time refuelling and at the end of the 3ed lap his advantage was now up to 24 seconds. Racing into the last lap Michael Dunlop set the fastest time at 18mins 05.95secs at a lap speed of 125.077mph. Bruce Anstey 600cc Suzuki / Relentless Suzuki by TAS Racing putting in a lap in 18mins 12.35secs at 124.345mph snatched 2nd place from Manxman Conor Cummins 600cc Kawasaki / McAdoo Kawasaki Racing It was then time for the Electric bike to grace the TT course once again. With No12 having recorded the fastest lap speed on Mondays practice it was no surprise that he would do so again today but very few expected a lap speed of 93mph. If anyone ever had doubts about these clean air machines being taken seriously they knew there was a new boy on the block in the form of Battery powered Racing Motorcycles. (Check out the pictures of the bikes at Ramsey on Monday 8th and again at Ballaugh Bridge today Wednesday 10th of June the Photo's on the main page of this site) These silent racing Bikes I am sure are here to stay. It was with much regret that the Sidecar Race 2 had to be red flagged on the first lap due to a incident just before Ballaugh Bridge concerning driver Nick Crowe and his passenger Mark Cox outfit. Both were taken to Nobles Hospital with serious injuries although they were both conscious So race day 3 ended on a sad note but once again history was made here at the Isle of Man TT Races Tags:
